We have one dog at the farm. He is very friendly and loves to eat blueberries. You will probably not see him as He will not be roaming the farm.
11. Can we bring our kids? Yes!!! We have kids at the farm, We have teens and a toddler. Just know our WiFi is terrible and cell service is spotty so they may not be able to update snap chat and you may need to download the Mickey Mouse club house because it won’t play well otherwise. And hopefully they know colors- only pick the “blue” berries.
12. Is parking a problem? No, we have plenty of space to park.
13. What are the picking fields like?
Depending on weather. They maybe wet, will definitely be hot and who knows what else.
We have worked hard to clean them up but You may encounter rogue sticker bushes and there are plenty of ferns and grasses underfoot. We have not spayed the bushes so this is part of the organic way. The terrain maybe uneven. The bushes are planted on rows so slightly elevated. Sometimes, there are rogue limbs from this. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND CLOSED TOED SHOES. LONG PANTS AREN’T A BAD IDEA EITHER.
We encourage visitors to bring a hat, sunscreen, even gloves if you prefer, water, closed-toe shoes and bug spray. If you are allergic to bugs bring your epi pen.
Don’t wear your new clothes or Sundays best. You are welcome to bring an ice chest and food if you would like.
Walking is required.
You can bring a stroller or wagon but it uneven terrain so slightly harder to pull.
We are working on getting a porta potty.
This is a working farm please do not touch anything you are not supposed to.
Please watch your step and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
What to do with fresh berries?
Store unwashed berries in containers or gallon-sized zip-top bags layered with paper towels. Refrigerated berries will last a few days, however, frozen blueberries can last from season to season or beyond.
THEY Should BE DRY BEFORE FREEZING; you can wash before use. Serve them at room temperature after washing with cool water. Whole berries can be frozen in zip-top freezer bags for jams, smoothies, yogurt, and homemade ice cream.
Jams, jellies, cakes, pies, cobblers, muffins – blueberries make almost any recipe more nutritious and delicious.
Blueberries are fat-free, low in calories, and are an excellent source of fiber, vitamin C, and disease-fighting antioxidants.
